Using our printer stapler for Invoice Printing

Hello,

Our office recently purchased a new printer with stapling capabilities. The main reason we chose to do this was for our invoice printing. Here is the situation:

We print 2 copies of each Invoice that need to be stapled together. We send both copies out for delivery, one gets signed for and returned to our offices and the other stays with our customer. We are printing approximately 30-50 invoices per night so this stapler option was set to save a decent amount of time for our night warehouse manager.

The staple option/invoice printing does not understand that each invoice shoud be treated as a separate print job, therefore stapling the 2 copies together. I have looked for options in MAS and in the Crystal Report that would let me separate each into a new print job but I can't find anything.

I would appreciate any ideas or suggestions in making this work. Not sure if it can but since we've already bought it, I thought it was worth a shot!

Does the stapler work if you only print two copies of one invoice?

It's all about the bottom line!

Did you try using the Multi-Part form feature.  There you can identify number of copies.  You may could also fool Crystal by having 2 parts going to the same printer, each printing 1 invoice.

Yes the stapler option does work if going from Quick Print in Invoice Data Entry or if the invoice batch only contains 1 invoice.

Re: Using our printer stapler for Invoice Printing

I did try using the multi part form yeterday and didn't have any luck. I tried separating the jobs using the multi part form and it just printed each batch separately then stapled each batch.

Thanks for the suggestion though!

Re: Using our printer stapler for Invoice Printing

I have been searching for a solution to a similar situation, with no luck.

Our copier's finishing unit can tri-fold our invoices for mailing, which works great from all other programs we use.  When we generate our monthly invoice batch, MAS90 sends them to the printer as a single print job of 100 pages, which the copier immediately realizes it can't fold, so it skips the folding.  It seems there should be a setting in MAS90 that forces the program to send the invoices as 100 individual single- (or double- in a few cases) page print jobs instead of the single 100-page print job.

Anybody have this problem before and find a solution?

Thanks!

We have the same problem, printing a batch of records in a crystal report, our printer just staples the whole batch together with 1 staple :-(

What you have to understand is that to the printer the invoice is really one long report with a page break by invoice number. This is why it staples the whole batch.

Re: Using our printer stapler for Invoice Printing

Check to see if the  stapling options on your printer will allow stapling after x number of pages. Another possibility is to see if your printer can be scripted to perform tasks such as pulling paper from a certain drawer or stapling after a set number of pages. We had a Kyocera printer / copier that we had a script built for that allowed us to print three color plain paper invoices that are all stapled together.

Of course the script doesn't work on the latest model of the copier  and we are back to stapling by hand. Progress is so fleeting sometimes.

Good luck!
